2014'ü geride bırakırken her sene olduğu gibi iyi filmlerin yanı sıra beklentimizi karşılamayan ve haliyle hayal kırıklığı yaratan filmler de izledik. Hayal kırıklığı da bir beğeni ve beklenti yansıması olduğu için tamamen kişisel olmakla birlikte ekseriyetle kabul gören seçimler de olacağına eminim. Son olarak, bu listenin en kötü değil yarattığı beklentinin altında kalan filmler olduğunun altını bir kez daha çiziyorum. (Liste alfabetik sıralanmıştır.)

Bir Başyapıtla Tanışın: Nightcrawler (Gece Vurgunu)

Bir yönetmenin ilk filminde başyapıta imza atması imkansız olmasa da nadir görülen bir başarı. Dan Gilroy’u bu başarısı için ayakta alkışlamak gerekiyor. Nightcrawler (Gece Vurgunu), değeri kaybolmayacak hem geçmişle hem de gelecekle güçlü bağlantısı olan müthiş bir film. Senaryosuyla, yarattığı ana karakterle ve yönetimiyle şimdiden modern klasik olarak adlandırılabilecek bir filmden bahsediyorum. Belki bu tanımlamalar ilk başta kulağa abartılı gelebilir ama Gilroy içinde bulunduğu toplumu ve düzeni usta bir biçimde eksiksiz anlatmayı ve eleştirmeyi başarmış.

Bir filmi izlerken, bir anda belgesel gerçekçiliğine girebilmek ve sonrasında yine kurmacaya dönebilmek muazzam bir deneyim. Hikayenin izleyeni birden içine çekivermesi ve hiç tempo kaybetmeden sürükleyip götürmesi de takdire şayan. Jake Gyllenhaal’un unutulmaz film karakterleri arasına rahatlıkla girebilecek Louis Bloom’u canlandırmadaki başarısı ise altı çizilmesi gereken ayrı bir konu. Özetle, sadece 2014’ün değil tüm zamanların en değerli filmlerinden biriyle karşılaşmaktan büyük bir heyecan duyduğumu itiraf etmem gerekiyor.

Machiavelli’nin Yeni Prensi Bloom

Ana karakter Louis Bloom, vahşi  kapitalizmin vücut bulmuş hali olarak her sahnede biraz daha devleşerek hikayenin tümüne egemen olmayı başarıyor. Kapitalizmde “büyümek için ya rakibini satın alırsın ya da saf dışı edersin” düsturunu bireysel kariyer planlaması özelinde sınırları zorlayıcı biçimde uygulayan pragmatist Bloom, Makyavelizmin de postmodern bayraktarı olmayı hak ediyor. Bununla birlikte, fırsatlar ülkesi Amerika, “ne iş olsa yaparım” düzeyindeki dibe batmış bir hırsızın kural tanımaz ve acımasız yükselişine (diğer bir tabirle “vurgun” yapmasına) harika bir zemin hazırlıyor.

55 Yaşında Taze Bir Yönetmen

Son olarak Dan Gilroy’a ilk yönetmenlik denemesi için neden 55 yaşına kadar beklediği için sitem etmek gerekiyor. “Ida” - Paweł Pawlikowski

Dokuz filmden oluşan En İyi Yabancı Dilde Film Oscar’ı kısa listesi açıklandı. Altın Palmiye kazanan "Kış Uykusu" yarışma dışı kaldı. "Mommy" ve "Two Days, One Night" da listeye giremeyen diğer iddialı filmler oldu. Bu kategoride "Ida" ve “Leviathan” öne çıkan filmler olsa da henüz baskın bir aday söylemek kolay değil. Bu arada Gürcistan yapımı “Corn Island”da İlyas Salman ve Tamer Levent'in rol aldığını belirtelim.
